Treadmills?Q) I'm planning to buy a treadmill but I am not decided on which one to buy. But I have to buy one that its in between my budget and I really need one because I don't have the time to go out for a jog or go to the gym since I have my daughter and go to school. And I really need one since I am on a journey of weight loss. I have two option the Weslo Treadmill, Cadence 80 and ProForm 400 X Treadmill. Can someone tell me which one should I buy and why.
A) Truthfully, the units are made by the same company (Icon Fitness) and at the same manufacturing plant overseas. In my experience as a fitness service/repair tech, I'd say avoid both of those units at all cost. Icon is known for producing very low end, poorly manufactured treadmills and ellipticals. They don't generally last more than a year and are really more for people who want to spend as little as they can on equipment they won't really ever use. If you're looking for something a bit more solid, check out treadmills by Horizon, Ironman or Spirit.

http://www.treadmillsensei.comTreadmills?Q) I Was Looking To Buy A Treadmill But I Am Not Sure What One To Buy,,,,,,I Like The Nordictracks Because They Have The Reflex Deck But They Are Soooooo Expensive......Does Anyone Know A Cheaper Treadmill With The Same Effect.....?...I Dont Want Shin Splints.....
THANKS!!!
A) Buying a treadmill is a lot like buying a car. You will get what you pay for. If you buy something cheap, you likely will not be happy. I would recommend looking for a used precor or LifeFitness treadmill. Try e-bay or craigslist. I work in a corporate fitness center as a personal trainer and know there is a huge difference in commercial quality treadmills versus those made for residential use.treadmills?Q) does anyone have any suggestions on a good treadmill that isn't a whole lot of money. im looking for on in a $300 price range.
A) Treadmills are expensive though there is a slim chance you might find a used one in that price range. I have never seen a new one that low. Try looking for used on of any of these models listed with their new price...all rated highly by Consumer Reports:
Vision Fitness T9200 Simple , $1300
Horizon Fitness Performance Series PST8 , $1600
Keys Fitness Ironman 320t , $1200
NordicTrack S1900 , $1600
Bowflex 7-Series , $1500
I'd like to suggest you think about an elliptical trainer instead because you would definitely find a used one in your price range. Also, they provide a better all around work out and are very easy on the joints.
Consumer Reports recommends the:
Pro Form 700S $500 new
Schwinn 418, $1000 new
Since the pro form is $500 new, you could probably pick it up used for a really decent price.
Good luck in your search!Treadmills....?Q) Do you burn more calories walking on a road than on a treadmill?
A) You burn more calories walking on the road. The treadmill will actually pull your leg back into extension for you to some extent, requiring less energy spent by you in order to walk. On the road, you have to do it yourself.
However there are ways that you can burn more by walking on a treadmill than on the road. You can adjust the speed or the incline on the treadmill, forcing you to do more work & expend more energy and burn more calories than on the road.
So really either can be a good place for you to exercise. Pick one that you enjoy and are likely to stick to, and do often. Good luck!Treadmills...?Q) Anyone know the best, most economical treadmill?
Ok, so I live in the country and cannot walk outside when it's 30 below...so I am curious if anyone has a treadmill and can give me any tips when I go purchase one this weekend.
A) The Image 15.0 is a good treadmill. I've never owned one, but I work at a sporting goods store that USE to carry it and have it setup. It has a fan, cup holders, and a magazine/book holder. It's also ifit compatible, which is a website that has exercise programs and music on it, so you can hook the treadmill up to your computer and download programs/music into it. I don't know if that feature is completely free, but I know that's a great feature if you tend to get bored with your workouts. If you can find one, the retail price on it is $699, and you can find it as low as $350-$400 on sale.

The 1st One Is "ProForm Treadmill, CrossWalk 375E Or ProForm Treadmill, Crosswalk 405E. I Was Thinking Maybe The Higher Numbered Might Be Newer & That Was The Reason For A Price Difference, But The Higher #ed 1 Was Less. I'm Confused. A) Proform treadmills are produced by a company called Icon Health & Fitness which is well known in the industry for producing very low end, poor quality equipment. The units tend to last 6 months before burning out. Check out the treadmill buyer's guide below, it might help you out in your search.

http://www.treadmillsensei.comwhich are better: elliptical cross trainers or treadmills?Q) well i have my opinion, being that treadmills are better for efficiency and cross trainers are better for toning. I've tried both but i haven't used a cross trainer in a while. I remember feeling that a treadmill makes me feel a LOT better than a cross trainer does and I feel much healthier after 20 minutes treadmill as opposed to 30 minutes cross trainer (but i do 30 minutes treadmill). I think treadmill works better for everyday movement as running is basically a faster version of walking (well not really, but same range of motion in a way) and I think the whole "knees will get bad" myth is just down to poor dieting and limiting your diet. I also think that people who use the cross trainer for half an hour or more would not last 5 minutes on a treadmill but a person who uses a treadmill more often would last much longer on a cross trainer. I could be very wrong but I think treadmill helps with increasing lung capacity more and I want that for everyday life, good breathing.
A) They work different sets of muscles in different ways. I use both, often in the same session, and can max out my heartrate on either. I don't consider either to be superior, just different.
I don't especially care for treadmills, and prefer to run outside or on a track, but they have their place, when weather or space available won't permit actually running.
"Knees will get bad" is not a myth. Running, whether on a treadmill or for real can be hard on the knees, and giving them a break now and then via swimming, cycling, or elliptical can extend your athletic career considerably. Don't believe it? Wait until you get old or get in good enough shape to measure your workouts in hours instead of minutes. Are treadmills better then jogging?Q) Well... im just wondering because im gonna buy a treadmill and someone just me that treadmills arent that effective running outside is better because you use more energy so im just wondering is it the same thing or different?
A) "Real" jogging is slightly better exercise, primarily because more muscles engage. Except under the most ideal conditions outside, your body is constantly adjusting balance, stride length, and pace to meet the requirements of changing environmental conditions. An indoor treadmill, even one with changing inclination, doesn't require as much effort for any given distance.
Still, the difference is very small, and you'll still reap great cardiovascular benefits from using an indoor treadmill.treadmills?what all should I have to consider in buying them?Q) does anyonr know if ICON treadmills are good for home use or not?
A) Consider price, durability, maintenance, warranty and safety when buying a treadmill. The cheaper ones tend to wear out quicker, check runnersworld.com, they have treadmill info.
Make sure you consider if you'll be using it for mostly walking or mostly running.treadmills group from mtv vmas?Q) who was that one group from vmas on the treadmills and wat was the name of the song
